Soft POS :

  • Software-based, Turns smartphones / tablets into payment terminals.
  • No dedicated hardware required 
  • Mobile, flexible, cost-effective 
  • Accepts payments via NFC or contactless 

Physical POS :

  • Hardware-based with dedicated devices (electronic register, card reader, etc.) 
  • Fixed- location, used in retail or restaurants. 
  • Often includes inventory and customer management features. 
  • Requires physical equipment for processing payments.

To request for a POS, merchants has to submit an official request along with the required documents.

  • In case of New Merchants: 
    • Open a BankDhofar bank account
    • Copy of valid CR
    • Merchant Agreement
    • OCCI certificate
    • ID card of business owners (for Omanis) and passport (for expatriates/authorized signatories) if the merchant has a BankDhofar account or as per CR/Board Resolution 
    • Photos of the premises sign board
    • Camel account in case the merchant does not have account in BD
  • In case of Existing Merchants:
    • Additional POS Terminal Form
    • Municipality certificate for the new location/rent agreement (as applicable) 
    • Document for verification of address of the customer i.e. utility bill, bank statement or any other legal document where address of the customer is mentioned (as applicable)

You could apply by filling the additional POS Form and presenting it to the nearest branch with the following documents:

  • Document for verification of address of the customer i.e. utility bill, bank statement or any other legal document where address of the customer is mentioned (as applicable)

Yes, you could track your transactions through daily statements, which is sent to your registered email that is the next day. For Soft-POS, you could track your transactions through the POS portal.
