BankDhofar delivers on CSR vision with housing support for storm-hit families in Al Khaboura

Reinforcing its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), BankDhofar has contributed to the construction of housing units in the "Hay Al Ataa" neighborhood in Al Khaboura for families impacted by the extreme weather conditions of 2022.

The first phase of the project was officially inaugurated last week under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Khalfan bin Said Al Shuaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning. The ceremony was attended by Her Excellency Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development, His Excellency Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, alongside other dignitaries and partner representatives.
The initiative is a key pillar of BankDhofar’s broader commitment to creating a meaningful and lasting impact on communities across Oman. As one of the leading financial institutions in the Sultanate, BankDhofar champions social investment through initiatives that promote wellbeing, economic participation, and sustainability—especially for vulnerable groups and small business owners.

The first phase of the "Hay Al Ataa" housing project includes 35 fully equipped residential units, each measuring 272 square meters, developed at a total cost of OMR 1.6 million. In keeping with Oman’s national sustainability goals, the homes incorporate solar power and water purification systems, setting a benchmark for resilient, environmentally friendly housing.

BankDhofar’s CSR footprint extends beyond housing. The Bank was also a proud sponsor of the annual “Ata’a” exhibition organized by the Dar Al Atta’a Association during Ramadan. The event serves a dual purpose: raising funds for charitable causes and providing a marketing platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Through such support, BankDhofar contributes not only to social solidarity but also to the long-term viability of Oman’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In line with its ongoing support for SMEs, BankDhofar opened over 13,000 new SME accounts in 2024 alone—boosting financial inclusion and economic resilience. The Bank also continues to invest in initiatives aimed at enhancing financial literacy, expanding access to banking services, and empowering individuals with disabilities, thereby helping build a more inclusive and equitable economy.

As the second-largest bank in Oman by branch network size, with over 130 branches and 35 years of trusted service, BankDhofar’s CSR strategy remains deeply aligned with its broader vision of sustainable development. Its commitment to responsible banking, ethical governance, and inclusive growth continues to shape its role as a positive force in the communities it serves.
