BankDhofar partners with Al Noor Association for the Blind to support entrepreneurship training programme

In line with its steadfast commitment to social responsibility and empowerment, BankDhofar has signed an agreement with the Al Noor Association for the Blind to sponsor a specialized ten-day entrepreneurship training course designed to professionally empower individuals with visual disabilities.

The agreement was signed on behalf of Bank Dhofar by Dr. Khalid bin Salem Al Hamedani, Chief Human Resources Officer, and on behalf of Al Noor Association for the Blind by Dr. Raed bin Abdul Hafidh Al Farsi, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Director

This initiative reflects BankDhofar’s broader sustainability strategy, which focuses on supporting impactful community programmes that enhance quality of life. The Bank firmly believes in the importance of empowering people with special needs by offering training and rehabilitation opportunities that help them realize their ambitions and contribute to Oman’s comprehensive development.

The programme blends theoretical instruction with interactive workshops and field visits, equipping participants with essential skills in market analysis, competitor research, marketing, financial management, and cost and risk assessment. The course aims to strengthen personal capabilities, foster self-reliance, and enable participants to successfully integrate into society and the labour market.

The Al Noor Association for the Blind expressed appreciation for this initiative, noting that BankDhofar’s support underscores its genuine community commitment and plays a key role in enhancing the capabilities of the blind and expanding opportunities for their inclusion and entrepreneurship.

BankDhofar has long prioritized accessibility and inclusion. Branches and ATMs across the Sultanate have been upgraded to better serve individuals with special needs through improved facilities, adaptive service platforms, and modern assistive technologies, including Braille keyboards. Recently, the Bank also introduced the Braille debit card, reaffirming its dedication to equal opportunity and independent banking access. The card’s tactile features allow customers with visual disabilities to identify key details such as the card number, verification code, and expiry date — helping preserve privacy and independence.

As part of its wider community engagement, BankDhofar has also contributed to the “Al Atta” neighbourhood housing project in Al Khaboura, supporting families affected by adverse climatic conditions. During Ramadan, the Bank extended support to the annual “Atta” exhibition organised by Dar Al Atta’a Association, which provides a vital platform for SME owners, encourages entrepreneurship, and promotes economic sustainability and social solidarity.

With 35 years of service as one of Oman’s leading financial institutions, BankDhofar continues to champion strategic social responsibility initiatives built on sustainability, inclusion, and long-term community value. Social responsibility remains a cornerstone of BankDhofar’s strategic vision, guiding its focus on responsible banking, ethical governance, and sustainable growth for all stakeholders.

Today, BankDhofar stands as the second-largest bank in Oman in terms of branch network, offering a comprehensive suite of innovative banking solutions for individuals and businesses through over 140 branches nationwide, complemented by advanced digital banking services.
