BankDhofar supports Omani heritage through sponsorship of Camel Beauty Festival
Reinforcing BankDhofar’s commitment to local communities and the preservation of Oman’s rich cultural heritage, the Bank sponsored the Camel Beauty Contest (Mazaynat Al Ibil) & Festival in Al Kamil Wal Wafi in the Sharqiyah South Governorate.
The festival was held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdulaziz bin Rashid Al Hashmi, Member of the Shura Council and representative of the Governorate.
The sponsorship reflects BankDhofar’s ongoing commitment to supporting initiatives that celebrate authentic Omani traditions, strengthen cultural identity and promote engagement among different segments of society.
The festival showcased the deep-rooted cultural heritage associated with camels in Oman, attracting visitors and participants from across the Sultanate as well as other GCC countries. Camel beauty competitions remain an important feature of Oman’s traditional cultural landscape, bringing communities together while helping preserve practices and traditions passed down through generations.
Beyond its cultural significance, the event provided opportunities for local entrepreneurs through an accompanying productive families exhibition, offering participants a platform to showcase and market their products.
BankDhofar continues to support Oman’s SME sector through Numo, its dedicated SME banking proposition, which provides financial and advisory solutions designed to help entrepreneurs establish, develop and expand their businesses.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Sami Omar Al Zadjali, Head of Marketing and Corporate Communications at BankDhofar, said: “Our sponsorship of heritage events stems from our responsibility to contribute to preserving the rich cultural and civilisational heritage of the Sultanate of Oman. Camel beauty competitions enjoy significant popularity across Oman’s wilayats and governorates because of their cultural and social importance. We are therefore keen to support these events in a way that helps preserve this heritage and ensure its continuity for future generations.”
BankDhofar also used the occasion to bring its banking services closer to festival visitors through its mobile branch at the venue. The facility enabled visitors to explore the bank’s range of products and services while providing existing and prospective customers with direct access to its representatives.
